Today’s crop circle viewers are a funny lot. They complain when there are no crop circles and often complain when there are, without any understanding of why things aren’t like they used to be in the fields. Take the circle that recently appeared, partly in poppies, on the side of Etchilhampton Hill. To quote one observer in Facebook’s most subnormal group, ‘is there a competition this year to make the most ugly formation possible?’

Monday 15 June gave us reports of two circles in Wiltshire: one in Grovely Wood, and the other … well, at least what’s left of it (next to nothing), seems to have been found by someone in a microlight, flying over the area around Furze Knoll, not far from Roundway.

We like this cute crop circle underneath White Sheet Hill. Sat within a spacious barley field, it’s possible to get a decent feel for this circle from the byway that climbs above it.
