Croppie Gossip: The Song Remains The Same

Hine's Weeping ... Again!

Some narratives refuse to die, no matter how thoroughly ridiculous they are. Take this gem from Dene Hine, the self-proclaimed land artist who thinks he’s ‘outstanding in [his] field’, passing comment in Facebook’s most malodorous group on the unexpected number of circles to have recently appeared in Wiltshire:

‘Here we are seeing a bunch of cheap man made copy circles ready for [Monique Klinkenbergh’s] festival squeezing money from a mystery that was debunked years ago.’

You can probably hear us groaning and holding our heads in our hands whilst muttering ‘Oh no, not this tired old shit again.’

Yes, Monique Klinkenbergh has arranged a crop circle conference thing for the coming weekend. But, to the best of our knowledge, she most definitely has not asked any circle maker to produce something for it, despite what Hine may want to think. If she tried that we would be among the first to know and would call it out on these pages.

We also know that none of the circle makers we are acquainted with have made anything with the conference in mind. Unlike Hine, some makers get out because they care about crop circles rather than self-promotion, money and likes on social media. But don’t expect someone who hilariously declares their own subpar work as ‘iconic’ to possess such self-awareness.

Turning elsewhere, does Hine really think that the hard to access circle on top of Milk Hill was made for conference goers to visit during a heat wave? It’s laughable. This is the sort of shit that we used to read on Crop Circle Wisdom when makers were accused of producing work for Steve Alexander’s Summer Lectures.

Hine may point to the fact that both Klinkenbergh and Alexander’s events are and were held in the Devizes area of Wiltshire, which is where many of the circles have appeared. But just one look at any crop circle archive will show the circles easily predate both sets of events. They’re held in Devizes because that’s part of crop circle country. Avebury, Alton Barnes, Silbury Hill, Etchilhampton, Cherhill, Roundway, Honeystreet, Bishops Cannings, Stanton St Bernard, Hackpen Hill…famous crop circle locations that are all close to Devizes.

Come on now, Dene. Endlessly crying about something doesn’t make it real, despite how much you want it to be. Don’t be just another bitter croppie who should have moved on.

Breen's Trespassing ... Again!

Here is Mark ‘Billy’ Breen at the crop circle on top of Milk Hill:

Here is the plea from the farmer prior to Breen’s visit:
